Ita Thaomei- Friendly oil lamb

Long time ago, there lived an 80 years old widow in a village of Manipur. In her humble hut she lived all alone doing all the work by herself, she weaves the loom during daytime and spins them at night. Although she was quite old, she was very hard working woman and one of the wisest and wittiest in the village. The entire village knows her for her beauty, brain, health and wealth which she possesed even in her ageing days.
One night, a Thief quietly entered her house and hid himself beneath the shades of the Thaomei(Oil lamb). He was waiting for the old woman to fall asleep. Unknown of the presence of the Thief, the old woman sat besides the lamb and started spinning her loom. Later she realized that there was someone hiding beneath the thaomei. Being a wise woman she quickly understand that the person hiding was a thief but she could not take any action immediately as she knows that she was old and weaker than him and that he could easily hurt her if she shouts for help. So she went on spinning her loom and thought of a plan to catch the thief.
Suddenly she called out, "Ita Thaomei.Ita Thaomei." What has happened to my Thaomei today? Why aren't you responding? she said. On hearing this the thief wondered, maybe her Thaomei responds to her call everyday, it may be a talking lamb. He thought, the thaomei is not responding today because of my presence, so it will be better if I pretend to be the Thaomei and respond to her call.
The old woman called again, "Can you hear me?" 'Ita Thaomei, Ita Thaomei'. and the thief replied, "Yes Ita". The old woman proceed, today I will tell you a story. The story is about an old woman, one day a thief entered her house and hid himself in the corner waiting for the right time to steal. The old woman came to know this and out of fear she shouted out loudly, "Help, help, there's a thief in my house."
The old woman was actually shouting at the top of her voice to alert her neighbours. Finally, the neighbours rush in her house and searched for the thief. The stupid thief was unaware of the situation as he was indulged in the old woman story. The old woman showed the thief to her neighbours and he was caught and beaten up badly by the villagers. Thus the old woman saved herself and helped the villagers catched the thief with her timely wit and wisdom.
